Digital Leap Forward: KS2 Pupils at Castleside Primary School Receive iPads in Transformative Learning Pilot

In a pioneering move to enhance digital learning and empower every child, Castleside Primary School is proud to announce that all Key Stage 2 pupils have been gifted personal iPads to support their classroom learning. The initiative, funded by New College Durham Academies Trust, marks the launch of a pilot scheme aimed at boosting engagement, creativity, and academic progress through technology.

The iPads will be used daily across the curriculum, enabling pupils to access interactive resources, collaborate on projects, and receive personalised support tailored to their learning needs. From maths apps to digital storytelling, the devices are set to revolutionise how children learn and connect with their subjects.

“This is a game-changer for our pupils,” said Headteacher Jo Woodhall. “We’re incredibly grateful to the Trust for investing in our children’s futures. These iPads will help us create more inclusive, dynamic, and responsive learning environments.”

The pilot will run throughout the 2025–26 academic year, with staff receiving training to integrate the technology effectively. The school will monitor progress closely, gathering feedback from pupils, teachers, and families to inform future expansion across the Trust.

“We believe every child deserves access to the tools that help them thrive,” said Linda Rodham, CEO of New College Durham Academies Trust. “This pilot reflects our commitment to innovation, equity, and excellence in education.”
